P&P Original: Late-1800s Style 8-Prong Engagement Ring with Ornate Detailing

Period and information: This is a new ring designed in a late-Victorian style. We’ve received a number of inquiries into rings that are intricate yet sturdy, so we decided to create a piece specifically to meet that need. Accordingly, this is a newly-crafted piece designed with a c. 1880s-1890s aesthetic but structurally suited to the demands of contemporary life. For the design and fabrication, our goldsmith used our sketches and hand carved this entire ring from a single piece of wax. It was then vacuum cast in recycled 18K yellow gold and set with an antique diamond. The prongs are both numerous and substantial enough to minimize the chances of losing the center stone, even after years of wear. Like all fine jewelry, the ring must still be properly maintained and worn with care (email us for tips!), but—as compared with a Victorian ring of similar design—this piece is better able to handle the bumps and dings inherent to a busy 21st-century lifestyle. What's more, the wax for this piece was destroyed in the creation process, so this is a one-of-a-kind. While we may opt to design something similar down the road, there will never be another ring the same as this one.
