Mid-Victorian Ruby and Diamond Three-Stone Ring with Granulation

Period: c. mid-late 1800s; Victorian era; European origin; Etruscan Revival influence in the use of granulation, but with shoulders that anticipate Art Nouveau design

Stamps: “W.G.” within a rectangular box; “18CT”

Materials: 18K gold; rubies; diamond

Dimensions: 6.35 mm wide north to south (8.40 mm wide when including the granulation); the ring stands 4.20 mm tall above the finger

Size: 7 3/4 (free sizing)

Gemstones: Weights and grades are approximate

Center: (.85 carat, est.) Old Mine Cut diamond w/approx. K color and SI1-SI2 clarity (diamond graded in its mounting by a GIA GD)

Accents: (1.55 ctw. est.) two oval mixed-cut rubies—a GIA colleague assessed these as natural Burmese no-heat, but that was an unofficial grading. Thus the origin, nature, and state of treatment cannot be guaranteed without laboratory testing.
